Dispensing with the space themed shenanigans this week. We are only a few days away from the second AuthorCon, a gathering of indie horror authors like none other. This year there is going to be nearly one-hundred and seventy five authors and vendors, and hopefully an attendance that is out of this world.
There is an unspoken rule at this convention: bring something new. I have already heard the rumor mill of several advance copies, unreleased projects, and other things that you won’t likely see anytime soon.
In my case, I have two.
The first is my new collection, THE SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO MURDER AND PERSUASION. This has been an examination and a journey of my career over the past ten years, and contains some stories that have never seen the light of day until now. I think all of you will enjoy it.
I intend for this to release in May in order to not compete with a release date in April, so if you want to read it before anyone else, be sure to stop by the table.
Speaking of that April release date…
I know many of you are wondering if I’ll have any copies of FOR A FEW SOULS MORE available and the answer is… hopefully.
So, I reached a special arrangement for advance Author copies since the book is pretty much done, but by the time the shipment would arrive, I would be leaving for the convention. With that bit of information, I had the copies shipped straight to the hotel. Hopefully, they’ll get there the same day I arrive, but it might be a surprise for all of us when they do.
Just a reminder that these are advance author copies. So while the story won’t change, any errors that were found in the ARCs have not been corrected as of yet, I know this includes one typo.
There’s the long and short of it, and to those of you reading the ARCS, I hope you’re enjoying them.
Now, onto scheduling, AuthorCon has a lot of events to go to, but these are the ones that I’ll be participating in.
FRIDAY 03/31
6:45pm – 7:45pm (Second Floor, Room 16): Collaborations – Stephen Kozeniewski (moderator), Wile E. Young, Wesley Southard, Ruthanne Jagge, Daron Kappauff, and RJ Roles discuss the ins-and-outs of writing with a partner.
SATURDAY 04/01

The Gross-Out Contest – 10:30pm (Second Floor, Room 18): A bevy of your favorite horror authors square off once again in the literary world’s most vile, hilarious, and incendiary showdown. Each has five minutes to gross out the crowd and impress host Brian Keene, bouncer Armand Rosamilia, and judges Maurice Broaddus, L. Marie Wood, Mary SanGiovanni, Bridgett Nelson, Mike Lombardo, and Candace Nola. Adults Only. No One Under 18 Permitted. Attendee Discretion Is Strongly Advised.
SUNDAY 04/02
My reading:
12:30pm – 1:15pm (Second Floor, Room 8): Stephen Kozeniewski and Wile E. Young
There is no WHAT BOSS IS CURRENTLY BEATING ME this week, as I actually defeated the last bosses and successfully managed to finish ELDEN RING. I’ve come the Elden Lord and moved on from the world.
Before I start the next From Software game, I took a break to begin playing a super secret game based on one of long-time friend and collaborator Stephen Kozeniewski’s properties.
This has been quite the adventure and is surprisingly innovative.
CURRENTLY WATCHING: YOU (Season 4), I think Joe’s cheese has finally slid off his cracker in this one.
CURRENTLY READING: JURASSIC PARK by Michael Crichton, this novel plans surprisingly into horror and is a much more addictive read then I remember it being.
CURRENTLY LISTENING: Fall Out Boy’s newest album SO MUCH FOR STARDUST. This album is evocative of some of their early work and I’m massively enjoying it.
That’s it for this week, I hope to see all of you at AuthorCon. I cannot wait.
