Greetings to you far-flung inhabitants of the cosmos. My name is Wile E. Young and most of you probably thought that the black hole had finally swallowed us. Well I’m here to tell you: we’re back, we’re broadcasting, and we’ve got exciting things to share.
First, I do apologize for the radio silence the past two weeks, there were several well paying anthology calls that I wanted to submit stories for, as well as other pending projects. There just wasn’t time to spare for a new newsletter. Hopefully that won’t be the case this week.
The first bit of good news. Here is the full wrap of my collection. I’ve spent the last week going back and forth with my interior layout designer, fellow author Scott Cole. He did a fantastic job and I couldn’t be happier. This is supposed to debut at SCARES THAT CARE AUTHORCON at the end of this month. It’s a snapshot of the years and took me back to some “lively times” as it were.
I hope you all enjoy it as well.
Good news on the Splatter Western front. For A Few Souls More has been locked in for an April release. I’m hoping to have advance physical copies at AUTHORCON. After a year or so of waiting, I’m ready to see it released into the world.
Salem has been a fun character to write, I’ve got at least one more adventure in the tank for him, not including the crossover with the Hematophages.
My wife and I saw Cocaine Bear this past weekend. I had been looking forward to this film for a while, expecting it to be a fun and gory romp. I’m sad to say that I was a tad disappointed.
Don’t get me wrong, it is a fun movie, and delivers on the gory part effectively. However, it feels more like a jumped up creature feature movie than a horror-comedy like Slither.
All in all, I would say wait and let it go to Prime where you can rent it. Make sure it’s not the ridiculous $19.99 price either.
6 out of 10 lines of snow.
So, in addition to the usual updates on what books and movies I’m indulging in. This is going to be a new segment called: What Boss I’m Stuck On.
I’m a huge fan of the From Software games (Dark Souls, Sekiro, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring). Currently, I’m finishing up Elden Ring. This is a sprawling game, and I’m the kind who has to explore and find everything. A quality that walks hand in hand with my video game toxic trait: I must find and defeat every boss in the game, even the ones that are optional.
In a game like Elden Ring, this is a massive undertaking.
As is stands, I’m pretty far into the game and I’m fighting this individual:
In fairness, I’ve only lost to him twice now, which is better than the 30+ times I’ve spent on some of the previous bosses and the 287 attempts I spent trying to kill the Demon of Hatred in Sekiro.
Still, it’s a giant red wolf with a sword made of fire it swings around in its mouth. Let me tell you, it is an expert with that mouth sword.
Onward to round three then, I’ll let you know how it goes.
What I’m Reading: Straight by Chuck Tingle. I hate to say it, but this is actually pretty good so far. I never thought I would say that about a book written by the man who wrote Bigfoot Pirates Haunt My Balls.
What I’m Listening To: Dark Souls 3 soundtrack. Epic and dark orchestral music, can’t go wrong here.
What I’m Watching: From Season 1. This is off to an intriguing start, and I love a good closed circle.
That’s it for this week. Be sure to leave out instant Jell-O, as the traveling Rigellians are hard up for fuel. This is the Third Planet From The Black Hole signing off.
